96th Academy Awards: American Fiction
Can you win best fiction screenplay or actor at the Academy Awards?
I would like to talk a little about the movie, American Fiction, which is very striking and has been gaining momentum lately. Nominated areas: Best Picture, Actor, Supporting Actor, Adapted Screenplay, and Original Score. The film, which has received many awards since its debut, is impressive with its sounds, as in many of Cord Jefferson's films.
I think he can win the best actor award, of course, it's just a possibility. A big part of my chances depends on the script or the music. Monk seems a bit stressed and constantly banging his head against the wall, pushing people away. He has stereotyped thoughts and he is a genius and one of the only geniuses!
I don't understand what they see in you, Monk. A complete writer who pushes people away. Fuck! Can you win Best Fiction Screenplay or Actor at the Academy Awards?
The ending of the movie is ambiguous, just as Monk (or should I say Stagg R. Leigh) wanted. It's a story within a story and suddenly we find ourselves in the middle of the set. It reminds us a little bit of Charlie Kaufmann (or I want to remember it all the time, who knows). I can say that the ending was better than I expected, but it wasn't as much of a comedy/drama as I thought.
For example, do you remember that Monk's sister died when we came to the end of the movie? I didn't remember it, it was like the most unnecessary detail in the movie. So what exactly happened? When the sister died, did the siblings become closer and Monk became more interested in his mother?
The relationship between Monk and Stagg R. Leigh, the unrest caused by this, and Monk's relationship with people was beautifully handled. Good luck Monk!
