UPCOMING Animated Movie! Batman: The Doom That Came to Gotham
On upcoming Batman: The Doom That Came to Gotham
Although the DC Extended Universe is in a bit of a mess in recent years, animated movies of the franchise are without a doubt a success. Batman animated movies similar to the rest of the franchise's products lead the popularity pools among their peers. As the critics have seen in the last couple of animated movies, period movies have gained popularity. Movies such as Batman: Ninja, Batman: Gotham by Gaslight, the Dark Knight's Return part 1&2, Justice Society World War 2...etc. has paved the way for new animated period movies. Batman: The Doom That Came to Gotham will be the latest period movie that will soon be released on March 27.
The Doom That Came to Gotham takes place in 1920's Gotham City. An ancient doom awakening in the city once again needs its capped dark knight to protect her. Movie content appears to be centralized around magic, which is a topic that Batman is not very fond of as it is not a tangible matter to resolve with a rational approach and preparation. In the trailer, it is easy to spot Batman meditating on a magical pentagram, which is not a scene that easily can be seen.
The movie includes interesting characters from the DC universe such as Oliver Queen/Green Arrow and Jason Blood/Etragan along with characters from Batman verse that are not very known such as Kirk Langstrom/ Bat. All these characters are sure to be given a different taste than the usual partners of Batman. League of Shadows (Ra's and Talia al Ghul) along with Cobblepot will also appear in the movie as of right now the only known listed villains. Hence, character choices show that in the movie fans will see a lot of exciting hand-to-hand combat & magic combinations. Also, it's very satisfying to see these characters in a different period with suited designs.
Furthermore, one of the greatest benefits that come with a period movie is seeing heroes such as Batman or Green Arrow who greatly taken advantage of today's technology, have lost that advantage depending on which era the movie takes place. In this case, the 1920s will be sure to constrain Batman to take advantage of technological improvement. Hence, one of Batman's greatest strengths that makes him such an invincible opponent is his adaptability to any situation. Therefore it will exciting to experience the battle between logic and magic.
Overall, a period movie that takes place in Batman verse always feels like a desert to fandom. It will be exciting to see Batman take another challenge with fewer technological pieces of equipment, and against a formidable opponent against Batman's greatest strength. Batman: The Doom That Came to Gotham will be released on the 27th of March, just mark the date on your calendar people!
