The next guest on my “Introducing My favorite Artists” list is Clairo!

If you like indie music or social media and of course, if you are gay, you have most likely heard of her before. But who really is this mastermind that's behind the song Bags? Let’s find out!

Clairo, whose actual name is Claire Elizabeth Cottrill, is a 25 year-old singer-songwriter. She has been an active artist since 2012, when she first uploaded her cover of a Maroon 5 song on Facebook. However, she started to gain attention and views after she posted her song Pretty Girl on Youtube in 2017. If you haven’t listened to it yet, go and give it a try immediately!

Following her popularity that came with Pretty Girl, she was noticed by record agencies as well, which led to her signing her first contract. A year later, she released her debut record Dairy 001. Around that time, she was chosen to open for Dua Lipa. With her increasing recognition, she performed at both Lollapalooza in 2018 and Coachella in 2019.

Clairo also released a new song, Bags, in 2019 and announced her debut album Immunity which also included the song Sofia (a gay anthem).

In 2021, she released her second album Sling, and she started her US tour of the same album the following year.

Just a few days ago, on July 12, 2024, she has finally released her third album Charm.
