KARD
Hidden cards of K-pop: KARD
The next music group on my list where I introduce my favorite artists is KARD. KARD is another South Korean music group that has been active since 2016. Unlike traditional K-pop groups that consist of only female or male idols, KARD is one of the mixed-gender groups in the industry. The female members in the group are Jiwoo and Somin and the male ones are BM and J.Seph.
They debuted in 2016 with their single titled “Oh NaNa” which successfully managed to help KARD enter Billboard’s “10 Best New Kpop Groups in 2026” list. A few months later, in February 2017, KARD released their single titled “Don’t Recall”, which also earned the success “Oh NaNa” did. In the following months, their third single “Rumor” was released as well.
KARD started their first tour 2017 Wild Kard Tour in May 2017. The tour took place mainly in North America and additionally in Brazil.
Their official debut though, was in July 2017 with the song “Hola Hola”. Following their official debut, they performed at the 2017 Summer Sonic Festival in Japan and KCON Festival in LA. KARD later announced their second concert tour named 2017 Wild Kard Tour PT.2 which took place in Europe and North America.
They continued to release songs every year but their most catchy comeback was with “Bomb Bomb” in 2019, which earned the group two Seoul concerts. In the same year, they also released the song titled “Dumb Litty” which was another success for the group. The next year, they came back with their new song “Red Moon” and a few months later, in August 2020, they released their first single album with the title track “Gunshot”.
In 2020, one of the male members of the group, J.Seph, enlisted for his military service which caused the group to perform as three members for a while. After J.Seph’s discharge in 2022, KARD made a comeback with the song “Ring The Alarm”. And one year later they released another track called “Icky”.
