Earth Where Harry Potter Was Born: Edinburgh

Edinburgh which has a different aura.

Huge grassy areas, cows and goats, warm-blooded people talking to the bagpipes, and non-stop rain. Here's Scotland.

The Scottish capital is Edinburgh, a city filled with ancient history, authentic eateries, and all the culture you could ever wish for from a British city.

Edinburgh is in Scotland, which is the northern part of the United Kingdom. It’s in the southeast part of Scotland, around 60 miles north of the Scotland – England border, and around 50 miles east of Glasgow, which is Scotland’s largest city.

Edinburgh has many famous enormous places with historic streets and air. I want to talk about my favorite places.

Edinburgh Castle

The most visited attraction in Edinburgh is its castle, which sits atop an extinct volcano on Castle Rock. Best seen earlier in the day when fewer tourists are queuing to see the fortifications and you’ll get more of the place to yourself, it’s a must-visit on any weekend trip to Edinburgh!

Victoria Street

For Harry Potter lovers “Diagon Alley” will look familiar. Here's J. K. Rowling is inspired by Victoria Street in Edinburgh while designing a sorcerer shopping street like “Diagon Alley” in her mind! It is indeed a sorcerer shopping street with its colorful shops. If you look at the storefronts here, you'll see that half of them are about Harry Potter.

From here you can walk to the Royal Mile on Royal Road. Edinburgh's historic heartbeats are here.

The Royal Mile

Royal Mile is the most tourist street in the city, which stretches from Edinburgh Castle to Holyrood House Palace, about 2 km long. And as you can imagine, if you throw your jacket, historic building! Buildings and streets are connected by narrow staircases, and of course, there are various types of museums, restaurants, and shops.

Edinburgh is a fascinating place full of hills, cobbled streets, inviting pubs, and tremendous history. Although I strongly recommend you check out all the places I mentioned above, I also encourage you to simply wander around Scotland's capital city. You will be surprised by how many beautiful things can be discovered in places you would least expect. Keep an open mind and be adventurous.
