Teke Teke

A Japanese Urban Legend about a vengeful spirit who will chase you to cut your legs.

Although there are numerous variations Teke Teke is the name of a Japanese Urban Legend which is about a girl or a woman who lost her legs after falling down a railway line. Teke Teke is a vengeful spirit which is also called onryo in Japanese. According to a variation of the legend, Teke Teke was a high school girl who have been exposed to bullying at school. Sad and lonely, one night when she was going back home from school, she couldn't maintain her distance from the railway line and lost her lower body due to being under the train. Since she is a vengeful spirit, it is said that she haunts train stations at night, creeping on people who are too close to the railway line and people who travel alone at night. Due to her lack of a lower body, she uses her hands and elbows to move forward and is extremely fast if she tries to catch you. Her name comes from the sound she makes as she moves forward so if you hear a teke teke sound when you are in a train station at night, you can try to run.

It is also said in some variations that the vengeful spirit may ask you where her legs are. If you answer her by saying ''Meishin Expressway'', the train station where she had died, you will be saved from her wrath. In other conditions, she will slice your legs away from your body.
