Game of Thrones, A Global Phenomenon
7 Houses. 1 Throne. 8 Seasons.
Dragons, white walkers, dire wolves, giants, witches, cults, and other mysterious powers. Elements that push the boundaries of the fantasy world in the land called Westeros. When medieval aesthetics are added to this world, an epic fantasy universe emerges. The series we know as Game of Thrones belongs to the original book adaptation, A Song of Ice and Fire.
The series, written by George R.R. Martin, turned into a global phenomenon with its TV adaptation. The series, which aired for 8 seasons, broke viewing records. It became one of the most talked about topics on social media. The series, broadcast by the HBO platform, was shot with a higher budget and production, raising the bar for each season. Of course, there are many elements that make the series so popular, but the stories and interactions created by Martin are undoubtedly above a certain level. Intrigues, wars, and betrayals of various houses combine with fantasy elements in order to claim the Iron Throne.
The wars for the throne that emerged with the collapse of House Targaryen, an ancient dynasty that ruled over dragons, triggered mainstream events in the series. Other major houses stand out among the houses that took part in this war. Proud Starks who rule the vast and cold lands, ambitious Lannisters living in gold mines, Baratheons stationed in the stormlands, Greyjoys, famous for their seafaring in the Iron Islands, Martells, who have their laws in the hot lands of the South, Tyrells rising above the green valleys, Tullys in the strategically located Riverrun, Arryns in an almost unoccupiable lands and many smaller households attached to these larger houses. When the struggle of the last surviving Targaryen member was added to this, a very bloody and long-lasting war began.
Although the final season ended controversially, many fans of the series are still eyeing the unfinished books. The longing to read the real finale of the series from the creator of the universe has been going on for many years.
