Naz Aydemir Akyol: The Playmaker's Mind, A Setter Beyond Compare
Beauty & Brains: Legendary Naz Aydemir Akyol. "Always a smiley face!"
Naz Aydemir Akyol was born to a family of former volleyball players on August 14, 1990. Coming from a family with such a sports background, she found herself in the playground, experiencing athleticism, basketball, and finally volleyball. She describes the day she fell in love with volleyball as a propitious moment, and she clearly says that she was first bewitched by how strong the women lifting weights were.
At the age of 11, she started playing volleyball and by 15, she was playing for the senior team of Eczacıbaşı; which was criticized by authorities as Eczacıbaşı was playing with a 15-year-old kid; yet little did they know that this 'kid' was going to become one of the most legendary players in the world in just some years.
Ever since her journey began in Eczacıbaşı, she played in Fenerbahçe, Vakıfbank, THY, and now she is playing for Eczacıbaşı again. Since her debut, she has won numberless awards including best setter for more than 10 times in CEV Champions, European Championships and Turkish League. Breaking a record, she played CEV Champions League final fours 10 times in a row. Aside from these, she is a two-time Olympian, and she was among the 100 players selected by FIVB as the most influential players between 2010 and 2020.
However great she is, we should not miss to give credit to her emphasis on education. Naz Aydemir Akyol graduated from Istanbul Bilgi University, Faculty of Communication, Department of Advertising in 2011. And recently, she has started her second BA program at İstanbul Gedik University and she is currently studying Psychology. Also, she has a series of four books titled "Naz'dan Spora Pas" and "Naz ve Moka ile Haydi Spora."Aside from all of these, she is a mother to Pamir and she is happily married to Cenk Akyol.
I know, beauty and brains, right? We love you Naz.
