OLIVER TWIST

Oliver Twist is a world-famous novel written by such a great master as Charles Dickens in the Victorian Age. Although this work contains many Victorian characteristics, people want to know what is told in the book.

The period in which Oliver Twist was written is known as The Early Period or Time of Troubles. As we understand the second name, the early period was extremely difficult. One of the most important reasons for this is the industrial revolution. With the emergence of the industrial revolution, some balances began to change, especially in England. Due to the unregulated growth in the economy, a middle class has emerged. While this was a good period for some classes, it caused some classes to live in harsh and bad conditions. Our main character, Oliver Twist, is in the badly affected part. As everyone knows, Oliver Twist is an orphan boy living in the workhouse. While it is difficult to live in England during the industrial revolution, the fact that our main character is a child makes the situation even more difficult. Oliver Twist is a small, weak 10-year-old boy who has been dragged from place to place in his short life. First, he has been employed as cheap and child labour in workhouses, and then sold to someone else since he has been seen as the reason of the problems. Our character, who escaped from here, falls into the hands of a worse gang and eventually comes across a good mentor and saves his life.
