One of the reasons why elderly people are unhappy is apathy.

There are billions of living beings in the world, and humans are one of these creatures. Every living being are birth, grows, and dies. People live a lot of things from birth to death. For example, they get married and bring a few children into the world and they think that they will take care of themselves in the future. When children become adults, most of them want to get married. As a result of this, they are also forced to separate from their parents and there is no one to take care of their parents.

People live two different lives from birth to death in their lives. When they get old, their second life is start. Some of them can't walk, hear or speak. Moreover, most of them can't overcome their basic needs. In this situation, they need help from their children and family members. But their children don't show enough love and care to their parents. So, elderly people start to feel to lack of love and care. Consequently, they feel lonely and sad in this process.

In conclusion, the Elderly are waiting for help from their children or the people around them because they cannot cope with the physical and mental problems they are experiencing. However, because the expected help, compassion, and attention are not shown, the elderly feel more unhappy and helpless during this process.
