Social media has become a part of our life. We might be scrolling through social media to pass our time, share our happy moments online or have a business on such platforms. A lot of people have experienced stress and anxiety since they spend a lot of time on social media. You are not alone. A lot of people deal with social media burnout during this whole phase of Covid-19. Here’s how you can treat yourself to some peace from burnout.
1- Limit your screen time.
Our phones come in with built-in screen time mode. We can make use of this feature to keep our screen time in control. If your phone doesn't have this feature. You can simply just put a timer on to remind yourself.
2- Take a break
From the devices in general. Nowadays, our work is all in front of a screen. We attend classes, meetings and work right in front of a screen. We need to give our eyes a break. You can do so by sitting out on your balcony or going for a walk. Read a book. Simply, place a wet cloth over your eyes and take a short nap.
3- Weekly detox
You can opt for a weekly detox from social media. Instead of spending your weekends mindlessly scrolling. You can engage yourself in other activities like painting, working out, bird-watching or go to a local animal shelter and spend some time with your furry friends. It will help you to feel more relaxed and motivated for the coming week.
4- Connect to your old hobbies
There are some hobbies that we let go of as we grow up. Why not take some time to connect to such hobbies? It could be anything you like. Do you like drawing? Draw it out! Did you use to play a musical instrument? Go on and revive that instrument! By doing so, you can invest your time in something you enjoy and develop a skill.
If you can’t really let go of social media because you are an influencer or have an online business. Don’t worry, I got some ways for you to relax as well.
1- Manage your time wisely
Running an online business can be quite tricky sometimes. You need to get engagement from the audience which can lead to spending a lot of time online trying to build an audience. I would suggest that you manage your time by diving the time between engagement, replies to dm, and posting online. Pick a specific time to do these tasks. Make sure you have some break in between these tasks.
2- Disconnect
You can disconnect from social media and connect to yourself. Taking time out for yourself is equally important as your online business. Don’t stress yourself out over it too much. You need to prioritize your mental health over such burnouts.
3- Practice no comparison
It is common for us to compare our things with others. We might often find ourselves comparing and having doubts regarding our business when we see someone else’s doing well. Instead of doing such a comparison that drains our mental health, you can spend time planning what you can improve in your business. If not, then you can just do some journaling. It helps to release stress and anxiety and improves your creativity.
4- Take a break
There is nothing wrong if you want to take a break. You can do so. If you feel too overwhelmed by social media. Cut it off for a day. You can pick your peace. It is still in your hands. Don’t worry, you can take a break and get back to doing your usual work.
