Three Billboards Outside Ebbing, Missouri(2017)

It is full of drama but still can make you laugh

The movie “Three Billboards Outside Ebbing, Missouri” is directed by Martin McDonagh in 2017; and it is about a woman who rents three billboards to take notice of an unsolved case of her raped and murdered daughter.

A Brief Summary

Mildred Hayes(Frances McDormand) is the main character in this movie. Milred's daughter was raped and brutally murdered. Mildred thinks that the town's police department is not doing enough on the issue, and hung posters on three billboards on a road where no one passes in the town, targeting Bill(Woody Harrelson), the head of the police department, who is the interrogator and the most authorized person on this issue. Bill is a loved one in town and he is in the last stage of cancer at the time of this incident. This causes people in town, including Jason Dixon(Sam Rockwell), an alcoholic police officer, to take a stand against Mildred.

The Critic of the Movie

The script and dialogue of the movie are great. I think the script is very deep and pushes people to question philosophically. We see an example of this in one scene, in Mildred's conversation with a clergyman. It was very striking that when the clergyman disapproved of Mildred, she emphasized his hypocrisy.

The film manages to convey even the most pathetic events without agitating or deploring the audience. Even though there are very dramatic events, we can laugh out loud at times.

The use of music in the movie is very appropriate. The movie has an unpredictable plot. Small coincidences lead the film towards an unpredictable conclusion.

Like Martin Mcdonagh's other films, the characters are not all good or all bad. This causes us to empathize with the characters more easily. There are characters who are determined and outspoken. At this point, we cannot help but mention the magnificent acting. Frances McDormand, Sam Rockwell, and Woody Harrelson gave very good performances individually. They took the movie to the next level.

I watched this movie three or four times. Each time, a different scene impressed me and made me derive different meanings. I suggest you give this movie a chance. Have a good time in advance.
