Trifles Play

Male authority play.

Trifles is a one-act play written by Susan Glaspell. It shows female companionship and it's a feminist one. This play is about cultural values and gender inequality. Trifle things definitely come from the male discourse.

The investigation is being done by the males. They are trying to figure out the criminal situation. Male characters are the decision makers. On the other hand, the female characters are together and they are the observers. They are just waiting for the result. It's all about male authority and the titles for the males. What a dominant mentality that has been still going on since the middle ages-patriarchy.
