Iconic Outfits From Movies
I remember that coat from somewhere.
What are the things that make a character special, and unforgettable? Is it always only their personality traits, or their actions? While they might play the biggest part in most cases, we can all agree that what a character is wearing is also one of the key factors that complete a character. And while unique costumes help us differentiate ourselves from others, sometimes the most simple suit does the best job at complementing a character. It could be just a white shirt or the most simple suit that reminds us of a character. What matters is that it reflects them, isn't it?
Almost all of us must have seen the iconic movie 'Kill Bill'. Mother to so many iconic scenes, one of her daughters is the scene 'Nurse Elle's Medicine'. Elle Driver, on her way to inject The Bride with her so-called medicine, struts down the hallway wearing her striking white trench coat and complementary red lipstick on her lips, engraving her silhouette in our minds. The trench coat, from a clothing line named "Trompe L'oeil" which is an art technique that uses realistic imagery to create the optical illusion that the depicted objects exist in three dimensions, belongs to the Italian fashion house Moschino.
Suits in movies is a topic that should be handled on its own considering the number of characters that can come to our mind when we think of clothing. The brand of characters on a mission, suits greet us in so many movies becoming one with the character. One of them is John Constantine, from the series and the movie adaptation with the same name 'Constantine' (2005). Another man on a mission, the exorcist is always seen with his slightly but not completely tidy suit look and a cigarette he can never live without, making his outfit an important piece of his character.
With a different type of suit and with a different role of Keanu Reeves on this corner, Neo and Trinity's suits definitely fit into the definition of iconic. Oozing with attitude; their long coats, black sunglasses, and slicked-back hair earned them an unforgettable silhouette while turning them into fashion favorites along the way. Many are still inspired by the movie and most importantly the charismatic costume design. I mean, who wouldn't be intrigued by such charisma?
