MotoGP is undergoing a logo change
The renowned motorbike racing series is to switch to a minimalist design, courtesy of Liberty Media takeover.
The trend of minimalism over brands and corporations is also showing its effects on motorsports as MotoGP also gives in to a minimalist design for a logo.
The new logo for MotoGP's 2025 season and beyond was introduced in Barcelona this year, after Jorge Martin's championship win.
According to the statements, the M is supposed to represent two bikes leaning while the 'oto' is representing a bike and its rider from a side profile, with the t being the rider and the double o's being the bike wheels. The GP represents 'Grand Prix'.
The logo change is the beginning of a new era of graphics for MotoGP, with Liberty Media now close to owning the series. Liberty Media is closing in on a deal to purchase MotoGP from Dorna, its current owner.
Liberty Media had also bought Formula 1 a couple years ago, also proceeding with a logo and graphics change for Formula 1 after 2016.
