Renaissance by Beyoncé

Alien Superstar is an anthem.

The long-awaited Queen Bee is finally back with a whole new studio album after a loooooooong wait! Let's talk about it.

After her last album 'Lemonade' 6 years ago the pop legend was gone for a long, long time. It surely was a struggle to wait but in the end, hopefully, we all can agree that it was worth every second of it. Now she is back with the intention of dragging us to the dance floor and she is succeeding at her attempts, as expected.

Releasing Break My Soul, the iconic performer gave the world a peek beneath the curtains. Given a taste of the energy I'm sure we all can say that we needed more, and we needed it soon! Her seventh studio album is now out and filled with the energy of House and Disco music just as she showed us in Break My Soul.

The album, Renaissance is presented as the first volume of a series and it consists of 16 songs, which totals around an hour. Taking inspiration from the famous-infamous Studio 54 disco music era, and house music which grew in popularity around the time Studio 54 closed, the singer takes us back to an era of music where it is impossible to leave the dancefloor unattended as she brings a disco-house cocktail to the table. The songwriters of the album include names such as Jay-Z, Drake, Skrillex, The Dream, Syd, Lucky Daye, Donna Summer, Giorgio Moroder, Nile Rodgers, Nija Charles, and 070 Shake.

The album comes with a concept photo booklet which turns the album into a whole universe where you can go to an era you (probably) have not lived in. Vibes of Studio 54 was mixed with the vibes and technology of 2022 and are now served to us on a golden plate on top of velvet cushions. Beyoncé is seen in looks from Mugler, Schiaparelli, and many more bold designers whose works resemble the bold era and complement Beyoncé's powerful figure. The cover of the album is also a homage to Studio 54, as horses became synonymous with the club after Bianca Jagger's 32nd birthday party where she was photographed on a horse on the dance floor.

About the album, the artist says that “This three-act project was recorded over three years during the pandemic. A time to be still, but also a time I found to be the most creative. Creating this album allowed me a place to dream and to find escape during a scary time for the world. It allowed me to feel free and adventurous in a time when little else was moving. My intention was to create a safe place, a place without judgment. A place to be free of perfectionism and overthinking. A place to scream, release, and feel freedom. It was a beautiful journey of exploration.”

Renaissance by Beyoncé took first place in every chart in 24 hours and added records on top of records. Only good luck can be wished to other artists planning to release or have released songs this year, for the Queen has knocked on the door and let herself in.

With the funky vibes and smooth transitions, the album sucks you inside and you do not have it in you to even try to leave. a trip down both famous and infamous eras of music history, you find yourself on the dancefloor with your friends having the night of your life for an hour. It is sad when you are done with the last song and back to the real world but do not worry! It is only the first act of the series, the Queen has announced that there will be 2 more acts to come. Patience is a virtue, I guess...

The album can be found on every single music streaming platform, make sure to check it out if you have not already! Listener satisfaction is guaranteed.
