The Wonder of Van Gogh

He is a fascinating artist.

Vincent Willem Van Gogh, born on March 30, 1853, is considered one of the most famous painters today. As much as his art, novels and films and documentaries are written about his life make up for the interest that the artist cannot see in his life. Vincent Van Gogh, who has tried different professions such as teaching and selling, decided to become a painter at the age of 27 and his works are quite gloomy and consist of moments that depict the rural life of the Netherlands.

He was the first of six children born to Theodorus Van Gogh and Anna Cornelia. Vincent was named after his stillborn brother a year before his birth. For this reason, he had the feeling that he was filling the place of someone else who had been lost all his childhood.

In 1869, through his uncle Cent, he began working in the branch of Goupil, a Paris-based art dealer, in The Hague. Here he was selling reproductions of artworks, and in his spare time, he was touring the city's museums. In 1873, he was sent to the company's galleries in Brussels and London. Working for a year in London, he made his first drawings. He fell in love with the host's daughter, Ursula Layer. The failure of Ursula to respond caused sadness to overwhelm her. He spent his life in London introverted, uninterested in his work, and studying a lot of religious matters.

Much of what we know about Van Gogh comes from his letters to his brother Theo. Theo was working at an art gallery in Paris and supported Vincent's art career. He sent money to Vincent and encouraged him to paint. Theo tried to sell Vincent's paintings, but at that time nobody wanted to buy them. Frankly, now, this situation is different from past time. Unfortunately, Van Gogh did not see the deserved value.

In 1888, Van Gogh moved to Arles, France. He rented a yellow house to live in and invited artist Paul Gauguin to join him. He loved the vibrant colors and the bright sun of Arles. The colors in his paintings have become more vibrant and bright. Sometimes they applied the paint directly on the canvas, leaving it thick with rough brush strokes, through the tubes. Because the paint was so thick, it sometimes took weeks for the paintings to dry out.

Vincent painted hundreds of paintings at Arles, sometimes painting more than one masterpiece in a single day. He became obsessed with art. Paul Gauguin came to Van Gogh with the encouragement of his brother Theo. They were impressed by each other's paintings as they stayed together. However, the discussion between the two artists led to Gaugin leaving Arles and Van Gong to cut off his ear.

Van Gogh, who discovered the impressionist works and painters in Paris, began to use more vivid colors and to paint fun subjects. The artist, who does not achieve the success he wants even in this radical change, moves to Arlesa in the south of France as he offers a calmer life. The painter, who cuts off part of his ear with trauma despite his mental treatment, ends his life by committing suicide shortly after. Thanks to the interests of his brother Theouna's wife Johanna, he is today one of the most valuable artists in the world.

Vincent Van Gogh's "Starry Nigth", made in June 1889 a year before his death, was the most important work of the Western world and was the subject of many areas of the literary world. "The Starry Night" is a great source of inspiration for the impressionist works made after those years.

Vincent's happy period did not last long. His brother Theo, whom he always needed for his monetary and spiritual support to survive, was in great distress. Vincent, who was very upset about this situation, went to Paris for a short time to see his brother in July. Gachetyle was also broken. His relationship with his whole environment was deteriorating; the hope of working that had hitherto lived him was gone. Shortly before his death, he painted “Wheatfield With Crows” reflecting the mood of those days.

Van Gogh shot himself in the chest on July 27, returning home late and closing in his room. His brother Theo, who received the news, came to his side, but van Gogh died two days later on July 29, 1890’.

Besides, I would like to recommend Loving Vincent about Van Gogh. This movie can attract lots of people because it has a different atmosphere on the film. The film is made with moving pictures which was painted by Van Gogh. Therefore, this attitude occurs with innovation.
