Street games have begun to lose their former popularity, and the toy industry has begun to show its influence in the industrial field. The production of electric and battery-powered toys can be given as an example. With the variety of toys, the activity of playing games in closed areas has increased. This change can also be associated with the concept of a risk society that emerged with rapid urbanization. Risk society is a concept put forward by Ulrich Beck, emphasizing the inadequacy of the security mechanisms of cities and arguing that the streets have become dangerous with increasing crime rates. This situation has affected the inevitable change and transformation process of traditional games.
Another pioneer of the change can be explained by the emphasis on the concept of the child in the 19th century. There was no concept of children in medieval societies. Children were considered small adults and were raised accordingly. The lack of a concept of childhood has led to children being exposed to elements such as alcohol, gambling, and violence. With the Industrial Age, it was emphasized that children were individuals and not copy adults. Along with children's rights, children's games and children's playgrounds have been the subject of research and the historical transformation has been detailed.
The change in traditional games is relevant not only for children but also for adults.
