Why Do We Skip Intros?
Some intros might not be worth it for us to spend our seconds.
Most people love that they have the opportunity to skip intros primarily thanks to Netflix's ''Skip Intro'' button. But why do we decide to skip intros? There are quite simple answers for that actually, people don't want to waste time or they don't want to watch the intros they find utterly boring. Let's look at the first part and elaborate. People who don't want to waste their free time watching a TV series have most likely watched the intro when they first started the series. Most of us might remember the hype of the Game of Thrones epic intro, but the hype to watch the intro would most likely go after a few episodes. It might be reasonable to skip the intro if the intro hasn't changed a bit for seasons, but watchers who pay attention to details will find the intros that change every season, maybe some intros that have specific details every episode.
Another reason for most people to skip intros is that they don't want to be informed about the content of the TV series if they aren't visually entertained. Being informed about the content of the TV series brings us to the topic of why there are intros. Intros were originally created to convey the spirit of the TV series to the watchers and prepare them for the frame of mind they are about to enter as they watch the show. While this might not be the case for most TV series today, this can be strongly seen in some TV series like Orange is the New Black, Breaking Bad, Succession, and Avatar: The Last Airbender.
