Four Must-Watch Movies For Thriller Lovers

Recent Recommendations for Psychological Thriller Enthusiasts

If you are a thriller lover like me, you probably do understand how hard it is to find a movie that meets all your expectations; keeping you hooked, unsettled, and making you constantly second guess what happens next. I have a few favorites from recent years that exceeded my expectations that I can’t wait to share!

Barbarian (2022)

Barbarian is a film that takes your expectations and evolves them into something else as time passes. What starts as a typical “stranger in a strange house” scenario abruptly turns into something much more tense and terrifying. Without spilling so much off, if you want to watch a thriller that feels like a rollercoaster with an unsettling atmosphere, dark humor, and an enormous mystery, Barbarian won't let you down.

Smile (2022)

I’ll be honest, the first time I saw the poster of Smile, all I thought about was that it would be another cliché horror movie. Smile really threw me a curveball. This film is all about tension. Slow-building, nerve-shredding dread that sticks into your bones. And whenever you feel any sense of safety, then boom, another terrifying twist comes in. If you are into continuous tension and psychological thrillers, Smile is just for you.

Last Night in Soho (2021)

The first thing I can say about Last Night in Soho is that it is an absolute feast for the eyes! It’s cinematography? Gorgeous. It’s music? Amazing. It’s story? Like a dream… until it turns into a nightmare. Starting as a nostalgic dive into 1960s London, the movie starts turning into something darker every minute. While I have my pros and cons about the movie, one thing is for sure, it is absolutely worth watching, especially if you like psychological thrillers with impressive visuals and breath-taking music.

Oddity (2024)

You know some movies leave such an impression that you wish you could erase them from your memories just to experience them for the first time again? Oddity is one of those movies for me. It’s a brilliant mix of hypnotic and psychological thriller. It is the kind that pulls you deeper and deeper slowly, somehow forcing you to slowly piece things together. Its eerie and dreamlike world blurs the line between illusion and reality, keeping you engaged the entire time! If you like unsettling and thought-provoking thrillers, Oddity should definitely be on your watchlist!
