Hades, one of the most loved and awarded rogue-like indie games, is getting a sequel. During The Game Awards, we suddenly got flabbergasted by the announcement of Hades 2, which was very surprising to the fans since the studio Supergiants is known not to make sequels to their games. Well, I guess there’s a first time for everything.
What Kind of Game Is Hades 2?
Hades is a Greek myth-rooted story about Zagreus, son of Hades, fighting his way out of the underworld to meet his Olympian family and his long-lost mother. Just like its prequel before it, Hades 2 looks like a piece of art, having a unique and lovely art style, interactions with your favorite Greek gods and deities, and interesting gameplay with boons and special spells. One of the stronger sides of Hades is offering different gameplay styles thanks to six unique weapons, so fans expect more interesting weapons in Hades 2, such as the sickle and dagger seen in the trailer.
Who is the Melinoë, Princess of the Underworld in Hades 2?
It is revealed that in Hades 2, the protagonist will be Melinoë, the princess of the underworld, bringer of nightmares and madness, and sister of Zagreus, the protagonist of Hades (2020). Like her brothers going to surface, Melinoë will fight her way underground to free Hades and take on Chronos, the Titan of Time. I would say that unlike the positive way of Hades, a more somber story about witchcraft awaits us, as Hades is seen imprisoned in the trailer.
“Chronos is no mere Titan. He is Time itself — and Time cannot be stopped.”
So Tell Me, When Will Hades 2 Be Released?
Of course, everyone who played Hades got excited because both the gameplay and characters look very promising. Especially after seeing Melinoë using sorcery (unlike Zagreus using physical weapons) it's only expected that we start wondering when it will be out.
Although the exact release date is still unclear, Hades 2 will be available in early access on Steam and Epic Games to the ones who want to play a work-in-process version of Hades 2 and help developers by providing feedback until its full launch, according to Supergiant.
