La vita è bella: "Good morning, princess!" - Guido, Life is Beautiful.

"Life is beautiful even in its sorrow and pain."

"This is a simple tale, but not easy to tell. There is sadness like a fairy tale, but it is also full of happiness and joy like a fairy tale." - Giouse, Life is Beautiful.

It is one of the successful works in the comedy-drama genre, which is a story of a father-son and a story of struggle. The first half of the movie consists of funny scenes. While working as a waiter in a restaurant, while doing funny things for the customers, he falls in love with our protagonist, teacher Dora, and tries to pick her up with various pranks. He pursues Dora and struggles until he gets her. The first half of the movie is a laugh riot, but it also deals with its emotional theme with its love scenes. I can say that the scenes up to this point reflected the comedy side of the movie and the combination of two different genres made me more impressed. If we evaluate the acting up to this point, I can say that I found it very successful. Especially Guido, the leading actor, managed to attract me with his humor. In terms of type and posture, he is suitable for both emotional and comedy performances. He reflected the atmosphere of the stage in a sincere way. From the first minutes, I can say that I liked the calm and peaceful music that soothes the soul especially the love-filled scenes where he tries to pick up the princess.

The second part of the movie opens a story full of pain and sadness. I didn't cry in this movie, and I prefer it not to make me cry. Because telling a painful event already makes a person cry, especially if it is told in a sad and successful way, it makes the audience, which is me, cry. But to be able to draw the audience into the event without making them cry, I think that is success. Here we see the struggle of father and son in the genocide. While explaining the orders given by the Nazi soldiers, our leading actor does the translation and his struggle while expressing it in a different way so that his child would not be afraid was my favorite and at the same time a heartbreaking scene.

Among the costumes used in the movie, the most striking one is the hat worn by both men and women. The clothes and make-up, which were kept simple, were also designed in accordance with the period. Cold colors (gray) were used in the war scenes, while more vivid and light colors were used in the romantic scenes. I liked the dialogues in the script and the harmony of those dialogues with the actors. An interactive bond was established between the dialogues and the owner of those dialogues, the actor. I found the preferred dialogues successful in terms of words, body posture, that is, acting performance. More shots were taken using narrow angles. The decors used in the war scenes gave the feeling of World War II and provided a unity by combining with the actors describing the struggle in the war. I also appreciated the fact that it was inspired by a real event and brought to the movie screen. I like real stories more than fiction.

What I like most about the movie is that there are no scenes of violence. It is not every director's skill to be able to depict war and struggle so beautifully without scenes of blood and death. I would like to congratulate the director and then the whole team who worked on this film. Combining the genocide, which is a painful event, with its opposite, humor, and doing it in a successful way with awards and success was the second thing I appreciated and liked.

I didn't notice some shooting mistakes in the movie the first time I saw it, but the second time I saw it, a woman smiles among some women watching Guido's escape from the Nazi soldiers. However, these mistakes did not spoil the overall successful stance of the movie.

Finally, I have to say that, apart from the shooting mistakes, the movie is a very successful, thoughtful and different point of view, which is one of the most important points that attracts the movie, that is, by combining two opposites, comedy and drama, it has been a production that deserves both praise and awards. I congratulate the director himself, and I think he made the right choice by casting himself as the lead. Although I don't know for what purpose, I can say that he played the role very well. Child actors and even female actors are also a good choice for this movie. Child actors can be a bit troublesome to prepare for the role because of their young age. However, the child character here has successfully played his role. I congratulate the whole team for this success. I also thank the director for leaving such a work to the world of cinema.
