Like A Streetlight
Even in the darkest nights, we hold on like a streetlight illuminating our path.
Sometimes, we feel like a streetlight in life's darkest moments. You know those lamps that appear on the corners of the streets on a cold, lonely night, illuminating the surroundings by emitting only a light... Those are the moments when we try to shed some light on the darkness within us and these are also the times when we think that everything has hit the bottom; we are lost in a spiritual void, but we are still trying to stay standing. This is where Changbin's song (ft.Bangchan) Streetlight comes into play. His words become our companion in the expression of these feelings.
"Like a streetlight, at the end of a lonely day, standing vacantly, In the middle of the lonely night, I try my best to smile brightly."
The expression symbolizes trying to survive even in the challenging moments of life. The person (like us) tries to smile even in the darkest of times, but at the same time, he feels a deep sense of emptiness. This is both an internal struggle and an effort to strengthen externally.
Finding Light in Life's Dark Moments
Sometimes there are moments when we feel like the whole world is coming at us. It's hard to live, it's exhausting to struggle. But we are still trying to find a light in this darkness. Like a streetlight, we scatter light around, perhaps alone but determinedly.
We may be just a shadow for many people, but we fight to never lose the fire within us.
"When you've held it in for so long, you grow numb to it, I guess I can still bear it, because I'm still able to hold it in."
In these words, he wanted to express that when emotional pressure and inner troubles are held in for a long time, the person begins to become numb. However, he still thinks that he is able to cope with this situation because he can keep his emotions inside him.
Fighting Not to Be a Burden
"Unable to rely on anything, I chose to only rely on myself, but now that I'm shaking, who can I even hold on to for support?"
The search for independence actually brings with it the emptiness brought about by loneliness and the search for support. We need to shine like a streetlight, accept our own darkness, face it, and find the light.
Spreading Our Light
As we continue to burn through the dark nights, perhaps the most important thing is to spread our light around. Like a streetlight, we exist to illuminate not only ourselves, but also those around us.
After all, those moments when we feel like that streetlight on dark nights are part of our inner journey. Remember that we are struggling not to extinguish the lamp within us. That's why he also says; "In the middle of the lonely night, I still just look bright."
Even if you are a streetlight burning at night, keep sparkling. Shine on!
