A Brief Introduction to Mitski
Here we are on the second person of the series that I introduce some artists whom I enjoy listening to. Today’s guest is Mitski!
Mitsuki Miyawaki, known as Mitski, is an American-Japanese indie rock singer and songwriter. Her career started as she self-released her first album Lush in 2012. In the following year, she again self-released her second album Retired from Sad, New Career in Business and she continuously worked on her music and succesfully has released 7 albums till this day.
In the recent years, some of her songs such as Nobody, Washing Machine Heart and My Love Mine All Mine have been really popular on social media, especially on Tiktok.
While these songs definitely have earned to be this popular, her other songs are also great and absolutely deserve recognition as well.
So here is a list of Mitski song recommendations for you:
1- A pearl
2- Me and My Husband
3- Liquid Smooth
4- Carry Me Out
5- Texas Reznikoff
6- First Love/Late Spring
7- Once More to See You
8- Pink in the Night

Most of her songs are slow and really calming despite conveying strong and meaningful messages and the instrumentals are always amazing. She usually writes about identity crisis and her place as an Asian woman in society, capitalism, yearning, longing and the struggles of not belonging somewhere and of course love and heartbreak.
Mitski often talks about feelings which people seem to hide inside due to their ugliness. In her songs, we see that she isn’t afraid to show these feelings through her immaculate songwriting and with her wonderful voice. So… If you want start therapy but too broke to do that, but still want to get rid of your “weird” feelings then Mitski may be the one for you! Give her a try!
