Poor Things

Poor Things or poor girl?

In the past days, Oscar was held. And awards are given to those who deserve them. Oppenheimer won the best movie award on the other hand Poor Things also won four prizes. These are:

Best Achievement in Makeup and Hairstyling

Best Performance by an Actress in a Leading Role

Best Achievement in Production Design

Best Achievement in Costume Design

So, let's look closer.

Poor Things, released in 2023 and directed by Yorgos Lanthimos. Starring are Emma Stone( Bella Baxter), Mark Ruffalo, and Willem Dafoe. In the movie, we see a woman with a brain that is taken by a baby. We can see the process of how babies discover or learn. Apart from these, we see how men take advantage of an immature woman. After all this, Bella wants more adventure and starts working in a brothel. She also takes medicine classes in Paris. When everything goes like that, she takes some news and has to return home. But, at home, she has a fiancee and they decide to marry. At that moment, Bella's husband which means that before she had not a baby brain she was married. Bella wants to learn who was she. So, she goes to that man. But, in a short period, she regrets this decision and finds a way to go back home.

Generally, the movie is about these actions. But, it has some, irritating scenes. especially surgery scenes were yucky. I nearly throw up. Besides, I like the movie. I gave 4 points in Letterboxd. I love Emma Stone's acting. Costumes are also perfect. I think that they deserve these Oscars.

To summarize, in my opinion, Poor Things is a really successful and outstanding movie. The movie is about 3 hours but I could not even realize how the movie ended. So if you want to watch a movie with an interesting topic you should watch Poor Things.
