Spoiler free-zone!

Written and directed by Paul Soter, Watching the Detectives is the ultimate movie pick, if you have already devoured all of those popular romantic comedies and craving something different and catchy to call your comfort movie.

I know, I sadly know that after some point all those rom-coms begin to taste the same, same old cliches and poorly-written plots woefully covered up with the cast but hear me out. This is not the case with this film. While watching this hidden gem, you will realize that they not only offer the hottest cast, but also one of the smoothest plot designs ever.

Neil, being a cinephile, is looking for a way out of his mundane life, struggling video store, and failing relationship. He breaks up with his girlfriend after she proudly declares that she finds Bergman and film noir boring; that's where Neil's downfall begins, being imprisoned by his own thoughts and the old, rusty couch in his video store...

So Neil craves for someone to match his freak and Violet comes right in time. She appears just like a spontaneous and ordinary customer behaving in a flirty and coquettish nature. Yet, day by day, she takes him out of his rut and turns him into a free-spirited and adventurous boy, who is now obsessed with life, love, and cinema.

So if you are done with the same-old rom-coms, and looking for a genre-blending plot with hilariously witty dialogue in a movie that revolves around a charming and adventurous love story of a film geek and femme fatale, Watching the Detectives will be your destination.
